Striving for a Ministry of Excellence - Part Three!

And finally numbers 9-12! I pray this has been a blessing to you!

9. A leader of excellence has perseverance.
II Peter 1:6 and to self-control, perseverance…

Hebrews 10: 35-36 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.

Paul said in Hebrews 12:1 that we are to run with perseverance the race marked out for us. There are going to be opportunities to give up. The devil will fight you, but you must have a persevering spirit. That means you remain constant in the things of God no matter what the circumstances or what people say. It means not quitting even when you feel like quitting. God will reward you for your perseverance in doing the will of God.

10. A leader of excellence walks in godliness.
II Peter 1:6 and to self-control, godliness…

I Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.

Godliness is God-like-ness. We develop godliness by spending time with Him. Paul said in I Corinthians 11:1, imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

11. A leader of excellence walks in brotherly kindness.
II Peter 1:7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness…

We need to pray for the entire Body of Christ, recognizing that we have brothers and sisters in the Lord in churches all over the world. All believers are a part of the Family of God and we need to love and encourage one another daily.

12. A leader of excellence walks in love.
II Peter 1:7 and to brotherly kindness, love…

I Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails.

Godly leaders must walk in the love and compassion of God. Proverbs 10:12 says that love covers a multitude of sins. Galatians 5:6 says that faith works by love. I John 4:18 says that perfect love casts out fear. The Bible says that we are to love:

§ God first and foremost Matthew: 22:37
§ Our mate and family Ephesians 5:33
§ One another (brothers and sisters in the Lord) Matthew 22:39
§ Our enemies Matthew 5:44

Love is what being a leader is about. Let love be the driving force in your life. Let it be the dominating factor which judges your thoughts and governs your tongue.
